As a kid, Wilbert Vano cruised around his living room in an imaginary truck, using a basketball as a gear shift. Decades later, Vano, 34, of the Colonia section of Woodbridge, has turned his childhood adventures into local fame as a five-time champion at at the New Jersey Motor Truck Association's Truck Driving Championships. The annual event, held this year at the Doubletree Hotel in Somerset, celebrates truck driving prowess on a competitive course -- from maneuvering a hulking tanker into a dock, to making tight turns and stopping just short of a railroad track. Vano, a driver with Con-way Freight in Newark, is relentless in his pursuit of trucking greatness, practicing on weekends and studying on his down-time. Drivers must be accident free for the year to compete and winners of each t...
Just south of the Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park is one of New York City's infrastructure survivors: a floating barge freight train line that runs from the 65th Street Rail Yard to the Greenville Yard in Jersey City across the Hudson River. The New York New Jersey Rail, founded in 2005, is operated now by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Although the line is only four miles long, it serves as a small, but growing critical link for freight in the New York region, and cements the city's commitment to bringing industry back to the waterfront. Here is some old Super 8mm sound movies that I had taken with a Kodak Ektasound movie camera back in 1976 and 1977. The quality wasn't the best on these things, but at least I captured scenes that will never happen again. Hope you enjoy the sights, and live sound of these oldies. Thanks for watching, and hope you enjoyed it. God Bless Please do not use without permission All my videos and images are Copyright protected. Captured on Kodak Ektasound Super 8mm Sound film. Some clips i took on my iPhone during my holiday to New York last month. 22/3/17 we see MTA long Island Railroad loco 205 pushes its stock into Grand Central Terminal. 23/3/17 I went to a small station called Union in the State of New Jersey, where i met a local railway enthusiast (his YouTube is Raillashup Productions) We see: 1. CSX 850 + 5286 passing with a Tropicana Juice Train 2&3. A Newark Penn bound New Jersey Transit service arrives & departs with Bi-mode loco 4522 4. A non stop NJT service passes with loco 4522 again 5. Sounding amazing on full power, CSX 565 + 5379 pass hauling a large manifest train. Enjoy!
An overview of a railroad freight house in Hopewell, NJ shortly before I left the area on Saturday August 19th. This single story frame structure has been unused since the mid 1960's when the Reading Railroad came through here. We'll even see the inside of the building.
Central Railroad of New Jersey F-3A #50 Locomotive is busy dropping freight off at the town freight depot, on Pinelands Central Railroad, Brookfield, New Jersey, on this freelance ho scale model railroad, based in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey.

Wow, what a catch--the day a Jersey Central freight train slowly rumbled thru town! Here's what it looked like at 3 railroad crossings on its way to Northofus. Or maybe it was my imagination ... in HO scale ... of what I would like to have seen. And since you're here, check out my channel page (by clicking on the icon or ibiubuok at the top of this column)--see if you're "Addicted to Trains or Model Trains." (By the way, I'm thankful to "Bramptonrailfan" for his suggestions. Check out his videos. They're good!) Your comments & ratings are welcomed. Thanks for watching and please stop by again!
Part Two of a series of videos documenting a Trainz Simulator model railroad set to Conrail's operations in Northern New Jersey in the mid to late 1990s. The route is still being finalized and will be released as freeware. This video focuses on the portions of the operation which are shared between commuter trains and freight trains. This chapter locations along the Trenton Line, and portions of the Lehigh Line such as CP-Aldene. The first half of the modeled Passaic and Harsimus (P&H) is also featured. The next video will capture yard operations around Oak Island, Port Newark, and Doremus Ave.

I just discovered this lost and rare video of Winchester and Western. On June 13, 2011, W&W #954, departs the Diamond in Vineland, merging onto the Vineland Industrial Track, pulling SW-1200 behind it, along with a mixed freight, with #811 at the back, as it crosses 4th Street, and heads westward, toward Bridgeton, in Vineland, New Jersey. As #811 disappears into the distance, the Vineland Municipal Power Plant, can be seen just to the left.
